ERG CHIGAGA DESERT CAMP IN MOROCCO :
The Desert Camp Chegaga is situated 60 km from M’Hamid El Ghizlane. It takes 3 days on foot or by camel to reach the Bivouac or otherwise 2 hours in a 4X4. The Bivouac lies at the foot of the Chegaga dunes, which at an altitude of 300 meters, are the most extensive dunes in Morocco.
There are 10 tents which the Nomads have made from goat or camel hides and a wool mixture, supported by a wooden frame. Every tent can accommodate 2 to 4 people and provides maximum comfort.
Thick rugs are laid on the ground with beds and matrasses. Sheets and blankets are provided. There are 4 toilets and 4 showers with hot water thanks to the solar panels which provide 220 V to charge the batteries for equipment and lighting.
Overnight stay at Bivouac Chegaga, 60 km from M’Hamid Meet at our agency in the village of M’Hamid, the last desert village, for a two-hour camel ride. Then the 4X4 vehicle will take you over a sand track to the Chegaga dunes, the greatest dunes of Morocco, 60 km from M’Hamid. Lunch in the shade of the palm and tamarisk trees. In the afternoon we head for Chegaga.
Arrive at Bivouac Chegaga in time to enjoy the sunset and dinner. Overnight stay in a tent or under the starry sky. Opportunity to try sand-boarding!!! The next morning, breakfast on site before a 4x4 drive along the sand tracks, returning to M’Hamid.

His tents have been kitted out with luxurious beds, linen, towels not to mention the spacious bathrooms. What a way to end the day after cameling around in the sand dunes, a delicious home cooked meal and glass of vino round the camp-fire under the spectacular desert sky and then flop into your luxury tent. This is definitely my kind of camping!
